Any drag/drop changes you make to the scheduled start or due date of a job, task or milestone may mean that one or more tasks or milestones no longer lie within the timeline of the parent job. For example, moving the scheduled start date of a job forward by 10 days may result in the job's final task starting after the job's new due date.

The result of choosing either option depends on which dates you are adjusting on the timeline.
When you are updating job dates
If you select automatic adjustments:
- and if the new duration for the job is unchanged, then shift all tasks and milestones to match the new job dates. For example: job moved back from January 1-20 to February 1-20, maintaining a duration of 20 days but starting 31 days later, then shift all tasks and milestones back by 31 days.
- and if the new duration for the job is reduced, then:

If you select manual adjustments:
- Job dates are updated, but task and milestone dates remain unchanged.
When you are updating task dates
If you select automatic adjustments:
- and the task's start date is earlier than the job's start date, adjusts the job's start date to match the task's start date.
- and the task's end date is later than the job's end date, adjusts the job's end date to match the task's end date.
