For convenience, you can add a contact to a client while you are completing a range of tasks. In each case you will use the New Contact dialog, but the path to that dialog will vary, depending on the task.
If you want to set up a contact so that they are a contact for more than one client, you can create that contact on the Clients > Contacts > + Create New Contact screen or edit that contact on the Clients > Contacts > contact name screen.
Before you begin
As contacts are linked to clients, before you can add a client contact in , the client must already exist. For further details, see Add a client.

For information on how to get to the New Contact dialog, select the task you are completing.

Editing a client
- In the main menu, select Clients.
- On the Clients screen, drill down on the name of the client you want to edit.
- On the client Overview tab, click + Add Contacts, at right.
- In the Adding Contact dialog, do one of the following:
- If you simply want to add an existing contact from the Clients > Contacts database, select the contact from the Contact drop-down list, then click Add to Client.
- Click + Create New Contact. The New Contact dialog opens.

- In the New Job screen Client drop-down list, select the client that the job (and contact) is for.
- In the Contact drop-down list, click + Add. The New Contact dialog opens.

- On the Job Manager screen, drill down on the Job Number of the job you want to edit.
- On the job details screen, scroll down to the Job Information, General section.
- In the Contact drop-down list, click + Add. The New Contact dialog opens.

- In the New Quote screen Client drop-down list, select the client that the quote or estimate (and contact) is for.
- In the Contact drop-down list, click + Add. The New Contact dialog opens.

- In the Business menu, select Quotes.
- On the quote manager screen, drill down on the Quote No. of the quote or estimate you want to edit.
- In the quote Details tab, Contact drop-down list, click + Add. The New Contact dialog opens.
Adding a new contact
To add a new contact for a client:
- In the New Contact dialog, provide the following information, as required.
Typical examples are included in the following table from First Name onwards.
Field Description General Information Client Name The name of the client to whom the contact is being added.
Set as primary contact The primary contact is effectively the default contact for the client. Whenever needs to use the client and contact fields, it selects this contact, as opposed to any additional (non-primary) contacts. The primary contact appears first in the list of contacts on the client details screen.
When you set the contact as a primary contact for a client, you can't assign them as a primary contact for other clients. Also, when you send an email, the contact that is set as the primary contact is automatically added in the 'To' field of the email screen.
Include in emails The contact is automatically added to the 'CC' field when sending an email.
First Name The first name of this contact person: Catrina
Last Name The last name of this contact person: Forster
Position Job role or position: Accounts Manager
Salutation The name to follow 'Dear' at the start of a letter: Catrina
Addressee The formal name used in templates for documents such as invoices: Ms C Forster
